Meet at a secret location on Friday night 29th June, from 7pm to whenever you can get there after work.  We’ll camp the night there then put any bulky or heavy camping gear away in cars before we head off riding, taking just bivvy kit with us for the Sat night.

It’s anti-clockwise this year, so we’ll head off west through Herts, into Bucks, then Berks and into Surrey.  We’ll occasionally pass convenience stores, pubs  and cafes but best to bring snacking food with you.  How long we have to stop depends on the rate of progress we make.  It’s a no-drop ride, and we’ll be waiting at every track split or road turn-off to regroup, to ensure that no-one gets left behind.

Saturday night will be a wild bivvy, roughly half the way round, depending on far we get.  We’ll plan to eat in a pub beforehand and make our bivvies after it gets dark.  So you’ll need bivvy kit and bike lights.

Sunday we’ll make an our way back to the start.  First into Kent, crossing the Thames at Dartford by using the Highways Agency to take us through the tunnel, then the rest of the way through Essex.  I’ll have a couple of route options up my sleeve to vary the route length or adjust the track/road ratio, depending on how we got on the day before.

So route subject to change on the fly. Will also depend on what the weather leading up the day has done for surface conditions, plus pesky HS2 construction blockades and availability of beer and pie etc.

Optional bivvy back at the start on Sunday night, to save anyone having to drive after two long days’ riding.  Nothing booked, to keep options open, but I’m reasonably confident we’ll be able to wing that one.

Camping the Friday night at the start costs £12pp. £5 each is requested in lieu of an entry fee, which we’ll donate to World Bicycle Relief in the club name.

Guests would need to be prospective members for our BC insurance. No obligation to join but that only works for their first couple of Cranks rides. After that they’d need to sign up.
